Building Sustainable Antiracist Coalition: Developing a Research Team for Studying Diverse Language and Literacy Practices at the University

In the face of so many current challenges, teachers may feel overwhelmed at thought engaging in antiracist work, or they be discouraged by seemingly slow progress. This article presents present a narrative building and maintaining an research coalition across departments our university. By grounding work important key black scholars, we describe process naming whiteness, inviting collaboration, grappling with definitions, even identifying few small victories along way. Members group contribute their voices perspectives from past two years developing coalition. We hope that as tell story, fellow scholars are encouraged sustainable focuses on local context is possible, smallest-seeming progress forward-motion.
